Philip's story
Philip's story: The treatment was virtually painless, I’ve had fillings in the past that have been more painful. The Implant fitted perfectly and I have had no problems since the treatment.
John's story
John's story: I would like to express my appreciation and thanks for the great skill you have shown whilst providing a complete refit of my dental requirements at your Practice at Parkside. The treatment plan which included replacing 4 top central teeth and inserting several pins in my lower jaw was surgery which was achieved in a most professional, reassuring and skilful manner. I am delighted with the results and now have an excellent and cosmetically pleasing display of teeth.
Cathy's story
Cathy's story: I have received second-to none-treatment from Mr Jonathon Pugh for my dental requirements.
* He has always explained simply but thoroughly all stages of veneers and most especially implant surgery received. He makes every effort to place the patient at ease and is very conscious to keep discomfort at a minimum.
* I wish Jonathon all the very best in the future and I have every confidence he will be successful. Thank you.

Jaqualine's experience
The treatment I have received has been excellent. I would certainly recommend Mr Pugh who has been really good throughout my implant treatment.
Elizabeth brims with confidence
Having an Implant gave me back the confidence to smile I was delighted with the result, and only wish I’d had it done sooner. I receive regular compliments and love my new look. I can recommend Implants. They can transform your life – they did mine!
Dental Implants give Betty a life free from pain

using me pain. I visited Steven to have some new dentures made; he explained the benefits of implants and arranged for me to see Jonathon Pugh. After an assessment it was decided I was suitable for the implants.
** My memories of horrible dental work from 30 years ago are far removed from today’s treatment. It wasn’t painful having them done and took about 20 minutes to complete.
** Jonathon and his staff looked me after very well, both before and after surgery, and they answered any queries I had.
I have now my new dentures fitted by Steven (I think they look really good ) and I am so surprised at how well I can eat.
I am not biting on the nerve anymore. Wonderful!
** I never felt rushed at anytime during the whole process.

Rashida's brand new beginning
I am extremely happy with my treatment. I had never expected the outcome to look so good.
**When I first found out that Jonathon would be able to do implant surgery I was overwhelmed with joy. After each stage I began to become much happier, I thought I would have to live like this [with a denture] for the rest of my life.
** I feel that Jon has given me a fresh start, a new beginning to life. Jon has made me feel a lot happier and has really made my confidence rocket. I am very happy with the outcome.
A new look for Doreen that really is life-changing

ants I was advised to consider have been wonderful, but I found it a difficult decision to make.
** I hadn't heard of the procedure for dentures, but how glad I am that I took Mr Burchell's advice. To say I am pleased with my new teeth is an understatement. They are absolutely perfect and a pleasure to wear.
** I love to show them off. The difference the implants make to the security of the denture is simply unbelievable; it really is life changing for me. I found Mr Burchell's expertise second to none and he went to so much trouble to make each visit a pleasure.
* In the past I would have to consider what food to eat and there was always a problem with food particles becoming trapped under the bottom denture.
** I no longer have any problem at all and do not have to consider what food I should have or how to eat it. Life has changed dramatically. The dentures are so stable I no longer have to cut an apple to eat it.

A superb fit and now Peter can eat with confidence
I can eat anything, but that's not always been the case. It's as though I have my natural teeth back and I cannot believe the difference.

eputation at fabricating realistic, natural-looking, well-fitting dentures, I made an appointment to see him.
** On my first consultation I explained the difficulty I was having in stopping my lower dentures from moving around and not being retained in a comfortable position. He suggested I see implant dentist Jonathon Pugh to determine if I would be suitable for the procedure.
** I agreed, but not without reservation due to procedure involved. My consultation with Mr Pugh was professional and reassuring and the X-rays he took showed
I had sufficient bone to support two implants, which could secure my lower denture. The insertion of the implants was painless – no different to having a filling – and I had no post-surgery complications.
** Mr Burchell fitted my perfectly crafted dentures, securing them to the implants. ** They were a superb fit, a situation I had not experienced for a number of years.
** While initial costs may appear high, having considered the long-term benefits of the treatment, I felt confident I was making the right decision.
** The experience was totally professional and I would feel confident recommending Mr Burchell to other patients.
** Since having my implants the stability of the denture is just great and I can happily go to any restaurant without thinking about
what suitable choice might be on the menu. I wish I could have done this sooner, having had a terrible experience where I had had four sets of dentures made and eventually having to be given a refund because none of them would remain secure in my mouth.

Trust us: We will always answer your questions
Q: I wear dentures. Can implants help me?
A: Most definitely! Advanced technology means implant dentures can be permanently fixed or the teeth can be snapped on and off their fixings by the patient. The advantages of either procedure include: a harmonious fit with your gums, the possibility of improved speech and taste, natural chewing function and bite, no more tilting and the end of pressure spot discomfort, restored chewing ability, improved diet, no more jaw bone erosion and . . . the smile of your dreams.
Q: What can I do about loose dentures?
A: The clinically preferred solution is to have implant-retained dentures. These teeth are guaranteed to resolve any stabilisation problems. They will look and function like your own teeth and offer huge efficiencies over traditional dentures. Findings at a symposium at the McGill University in Quebec, Canada, suggested the first choice option of dental professionals for people who had no lower jaw teeth, was a prosthetic fixed by two implants. Patients reported that implant-retained dentures were significantly more stable, comfortable, and chewing and speaking was easier.
Q: What is a dental implant?
A: Dental implants look and feel exactly like natural teeth and can be used to replace a single or several teeth. They are a permanent feature, enjoy a very high success rate and are a good alternative to traditional dentures, crowns and bridges.
Q: Am I a suitable candidate?
A: Yes, but you need to have a healthy mouth. If there are oral issues we will address them before implant surgery. A good candidate for treatment is one who is healthy and prepared to look after their teeth. Some health conditions and medical treatments will preclude some candidates.
Q: What is an abutment?
A: The abutment is mechanism used to connect the implant to crowns, bridges or dentures.
Q: What do implants look like?
A: Titanium dental implants are small screw-like mechanisms that are inserted into the jaw bond.
**They are between 8 to 14mm long and between 3.3 and 4.8mm diameter.
Q: Why is bone grafting necessary?
A: Synthetic bone grafting, known as guided bone regeneration, is frequently necessary at the time of implant placement.
**If bone that once supported teeth has been eroded it needs to be replaced to support the implant and gum around the restoration.
Q: What is a periodontist?
A: A periodontist is a dentist with a specialism in periodontology – a discipline which focuses on the supporting structures of teeth and the treatment of conditions that affect them.
**Typically, work involves the treatment of gums and procedures include addressing ‘gummy smiles’ using micro surgery, and bone grafting.
Trust us: What you can expect after treatment
Bleeding : Initially you will feel numb and it may be hard to speak. You may also experience some swelling and a little bleeding from around implant area. This is normal and any bleeding will generally ease off after 24 hours.
*To ease bleeding you can bite on a folded pad of gauze for one hour. Do not replace the pad during this time. Keep your head elevated and apply external cooling to your cheek. Do not have hot drinks.
*Pain : If pain occurs, you can take an over the counter non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication (NSAID) such as
ibuprofen or paracetamol for a few days. Do not exceed the recommended dosage printed on the packaging.
*The first 24 hours : Don’t disturb any clot that forms on the wound, as this will prevent further bleeding or infection. Do not rinse your mouth or brush your teeth for 24 hours following surgery.
*We use local anaesthetics for dental implant work so it is very important to avoid hot drinks or chewing while the anaesthesia is still working. There is a significant danger of burning or biting yourself.
*For the first 10 days : When brushing teeth avoid the implant area and use the antibacterial mouthwash as prescribed. Following this pereiod a toothbrush with special soft bristles can be used for cleaning the area around the wound.
*Diet : Do not stop eating and drinking as it is important to stay well nourished and hydrated to promote healing. Avoid coffee, alcohol and cigarettes for two to three days. This reduces the risk of post-surgical bleeding and encouraged healing.
*Smokers : We would strongly advise that you do not smoke during the implant treatment.
Trust us: Planning ahead for outstanding outcomes

• Assessment of existing teeth by clinical examination a
nd dental radiographs
• Assessment of the soft mouth tissue, bone erosion and jaw joint
**Procedure
**Having implant-retained teeth fitted usually involves a two-stage procedure. Firstly, the titanium implants are set into the jawbone and then a few weeks later after gums have recovered, the prosthetic is attached.
How does it work?
**A small incision is made in the gums in order to expose the jawbone. The site is prepared with an implant drill and the implant is screwed in. In the healing process which follows, the bone fuses with the titanium pin to create a strong fixing point. This normally takes about eight weeks.
**The second stage involves the fixing of the replacement teeth anchors, known as abutments. A single tooth, muliple teeth or a whole denture can then be attached. Implant retained dentures can be permanently fixed or clipped into position.
**Surgical fees include all materials. Additional fees apply for bone or soft tissue grafting but this will be made known following the initial clinical assessment and before any procedure begins.

Trust us: We have a great dentistry team
Implantologist Jon heads the team at Total Implant Solutions. He is committed to changing the perception of dentistry and ensuring a patient-focused ethos is at all times embraced by his team.
..Formative dental experiences for many people, he admits, have not been good ones, but adds technological and procedural advances, combined with an accessible approach from his friendly staff, can begin to change that understanding.
..Driven by a desire to improve the life quality of patients, his aim is to always exceed their expectations.
Jon graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1987 with honours and a distinction in clinical dentistry.
..For more than 20 years he has pursued an interest in implantology and in 2009 was awarded an MSc with a distinction in Implant Dentistry from the University of Warwick.
..Jon has a wide range of implant experience – from the single tooth replacement to the reconstruction of full arches – but has a particular interest in the restorative procedures now available for those who wear dentures.
..Embracing holistic thinking on dentistry where specialisms are clearly defined and encouraged, Jon established Total Implant Solutions to ‘follow his dream’ bringing together a dynamic and talented team of professionals.
..In recent years strident changes in technology have vastly increased patient options while stretching clinical boundaries.
.. To help him keep abreast of developments, Jon is a regular contributor on the profession’s European circuit, travelling extensively overseas to study new procedures and map future trends in dental care.
Facing life with a confident smile – a natural choice
We all take our teeth for granted – until we lose them.
**At Total Implant Solutions we have no hesitation in saying that in some cases the outcomes of using implant procedures have been life changing.
**We are undoubtedly privileged to bring such huge increases in life quality to patients. But with that same privilege comes responsibility to maintain our standards. This means we will never compromise on achieving the best possible clinical outcomes.
**What are the advantages of dental implants?
**Just like real teeth: Implants form a stable foundation for permanent replacement teeth that look, feel and function like your own.
**A harmonious fit with gums: For those deciding to haveimplant retained dentures, the advanced 3-D computerised scanning technology used guarantees a perfect fit.
**Secure implant fixings also guarantee the end of stabilisation issues such as tilting and pressure sores.
**A boost in confidence: Implants have the power to transform the way people feel about themselves.
**We have experience of many cases where people have suppressed their smile because of embarrassment over their teeth. With the cutting-edge technology used to manufacture prosthetics, it is now impossible to detect that the implant-retained replacements are not real.
**Enjoy food again: Dental implants can restore up to 100 per cent efficiency in chewing and no food will need to be off the menu. Traditional dentures are best 15 per cent efficient.
Implants stimulate bone growth: When a tooth is lost the bone surrounding the tooth root shrinks. The implant pins stimulate bone regeneration and further erosion ceases.
**Protects other teeth: Implants will reduce the risk of breaking other teeth adjacent to gaps.
**Look younger: There are enormous cosmetic advantages to using implants. Not least, they can change the way you look, taking years off a face as pinched lips and shrunken cheeks are restored. The natural look is our hallmark.
**The preferred method: With dental implants, no preparation is required that will affect healthy, neighbouring teeth as with traditional bridges where teeth are ground down for fixings.
**Better hygiene: Implants can be looked after just like your own teeth.
Trust us: Our implant solutions can be nothing short of life-changing
The use of implants to replace missing teeth can be nothing short of life changing.
It is the best way available of recovering the ability to chew properly, live life with a spontaneous flair and avoid the sometimes-embarrassing moments caused by wearing traditional dentures.
**So exactly what are dental implants? How do they work, and can they be combined with other treatments?
**Implants are an incredibly versatile dental ‘tool’. They can be used in different combinations to support a single tooth, several teeth or a complete set of teeth.
And the test of time has shown results are both predictable and extremely reliable. Implant technology allows a powerful union between cosmetic and restorative dentistry, providing teeth, which look stunning while having excellent function.
Total Implant Solutions implantologist and principal dentist Jonathon Pugh BDS MSc
has been placing implants since 1989 and uses a minimally invasive technique.
**The implants are small titanium threaded pins that screw into the jawbone and are effectively replacement tooth roots. Occasionally, a synthetic bone graft will be required to create a secure fixing point for the pin if the natural jawbone has eroded through age.
**The procedure for fixing four implants to retain, for example, an upper denture, would normally take about eight to nine weeks from initial consultation to having the teeth loaded on to fixings. Using implants does not preclude other restorative dental procedures.
Periodontics
We want you to have healthy teeth and for your oral hygiene to be in excellent condition. That involves not only normal disciplines of dentistry but also the specialism of periodontics. **Periodontics is a practice which looks at the supporting structures of your teeth – the clever, natural mechanisms that hold them firmly in place, and the condition of your gums. Periodontal diseases take on many forms and untreated can lead to bone and tooth loss. **Mr Carl Horton BDS MSc PG CertPeriodontology is responsible for delivering the practice’s periodontics care. He is an accomplished micro surgeon, carries out gum realignment/grafting procedures, surgically addresses ‘gummy smiles’, undertakes bone grafting and other procedures he describes as “the equivalent to keyhole surgery.” **His work also embraces highly complex referrals as well as dealing with more common gum-related conditions and aesthetics care. |
Dentures
Steven Burchell DipCDT RCS(Eng) brings his “natural hallmark” dental prosthetics skills into the Total Implant Solutions team.**A prescribing dental technician, his work is key to the implant retained denture services on offer.
**Steven’s finished works are the outcome of some 30 years’ experience, intelligent analysis and an ethos to drive no-compromise solutions for people who wear false teeth.

Endodontics
Root canal or endodontic treatment is carried out to save teeth which have damaged or infected roots. It deals with the tooth pulp found in the root, the tissues surrounding the root and the subsequent reconstruction of the tooth above the gum line.
**Where ever possible we will always attempt to salvage teeth, but in compromised cases our dentists may recommend the option of an implant.

Implant surgery
The procedure of placing implants to support dentures, bridges, single or multiple teeth demands a complex and meticulous type of dentistry that can deliver dazzling results.
**The profession recognises the use of implants as the most efficient way of replacing missing teeth. They are a permanent solution for missing teeth, the implant being a substitute for a natural tooth root.
**Mr Jonathon Pugh BDS MSc, Total Implant Solutions’ principal dentist, heads up the implant team. For more than 20 years he has pursued an interest in implantology and his primary patient-focused goal is to improve patients’ life-quality with his skills.
**In a modern, highly-technical, supportive environment, we can offer all implant-supported restorative work and procedures for implant-retained dentures. These include: Impant-supported single crowns, multiple teeth, bridges, upper and lower dentures and the All-on-4 system.
